Elena Watson, Sunbury, was awarded a bachelor’s degree June 14 by Lawrence University at its 166th commencement ceremony. Long-time Georgia Congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis delivered the principal commencement address and was awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters degree. A total of 310 students earned degrees from Lawrence during the 2014-15 academic year.
Watson, received her bachelor of arts degree in anthropology and biology, magna cum laude. She is the daughter of Brent and Emily Watson, Sunbury, and a 2011 graduate of Big Walnut High School.
