Top Cops of 2018

YOUR VIEW

Our Top Cop honor is usually bestowed on a member of law enforcement who has contributed in an outstanding way to our work inside the courtroom.

We have never presented this honor posthumously, but thought it right to do so for our first recognition of 2018. Because there is no greater thing you can do as a law enforcement officer than to give your life in the line of duty, we want to recognize Westerville Police Officers Morelli and Joering as the first Top Cops of 2018.

By now we’ve all heard the story of that fateful day, how these two brave officers were killed as they responded to a 911 call on February 10.

We continue to miss these officers and to hold them in our hearts.

It is a small gesture, but we are honored to recognize these heroes as Top Cops.

Thank you, Officer Morelli. Thank you, Officer Joering. Thank you for your service, your dedication, and your sacrifice.

We also want to recognize Village Trophy in Columbus for donating the plaque in their honor. The plaque will be displayed at the Westerville Police Department.
