What an amazing group of girls!! Winning the OCC is a huge deal, and they just did it for the second year in a row. It definitely wasn’t easy. Both Canal Winchester and New Albany were primed to take us out, but the girls did what great teams do – they stood together, supported each other, and overcame obstacles. We took a few big chances with the lineup, and they made it work. This senior class has just been simply wonderful, and it was a huge goal to send them out as champions!

The 4×800 relay team (Kaitlin Meade, Becca Bogantz, Adelee Gartner, Colbi Borland) defended their title, and came within 2 seconds of the school record. We are hoping next week is the week that 23 year old record goes down.

Kaley Rammelsberg won the high jump for the 2nd year in a row, and broke the meet record (held by BW’s Aleshia Higgins 2005) by jumping 5’6”. She gave us a scare in the long jump when she slid on the board and landed awkwardly. Luckily her best jump at the time stood for 4th place. She was able to run the 100 hurdles, but we had to scratch her in the 300 hurdles as we wanted to save her for next week.

Colbi Borland had a whale of a day. We put a lot of pressure on her, she ran the 1600 (1st), the 800 (4th), and the 3200 run (1st) today to go along with her 4×8 victory on Thursday. She is a talented runner, and she showed why she is among the best distance runners in the state.

Hanna Pinkston was another one who we put a lot of pressure on today and Thursday. Thursday she had to qualify to the finals in the 100, 200, and 400. Running all three in just over an hour. Today she ran, and scored in all three: 100 (3rd), 400 (5th), and 200 (2nd) as well as run 2nd leg on the 2nd place 4×400 relay team.

Kaitlin Meade had another great meet. Thursday she led off our championship 4×8 relay, then today she placed 2nd in the 800 with a near school record time, and anchored our 2nd place 4×4 relay. She is a fierce competitor, and it’s great having her bookend meets for the team, the first runner in the first race and the last runner in the last race.

Overall record now stands at 83-8.
