Meet Recap: Cross Country Girls finish 2nd in the Capital Division of the OCC (for the second year in a row). Colbi Borland defends her OCC Championship. She has won the conference meet three years in a row (ONE TO GO). Grace Grunewald finished 6th to earn First Team All OCC Honors. Sierra Sanders finished 15th, Grace Unger finished 17th and Madi Yano finished 18th to earn OCC Third Team Honors.

Meet Recap: Colbi Borland placed 4th in the District Saturday at Hilliard Darby to advance to the Regional for the third straight year. Last season, Colbi placed 18th in the Regional to qualify to the state meet.

FOOTBALL

Groveport Madison at Big Walnut, Oct. 19, 7 p.m.

Big Walnut lost to Groveport Madison 28-19 in a close home game. With just under 6 minutes in the first quarter, BW got on the board first with a 31-yard field goal by Caleb Meade. Groveport took the lead with a minute left in the quarter with a one-yard touchdown run from Jalil Underdown and a point after by Luis Hernandez.

Underdown also had the play of the game with an 81-yard scoring run three minutes into the second. Meade booted a 36-yard field goal two minutes later. Big Walnut drew to 14-12 at the half, thanks to eight-yard touchdown run from Nathan Lawyer.

In the third quarter, Jashaun McGraw had a three-yard touchdown run to put Groveport up 21-12. A minute into the fourth, Lawyer added a two-yard touchdown to make it 21-19. Unfortunately, Underdown scored again, this time from 10 yards out, to close the scoring.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Big Walnut’s Volleyball team defeated Columbus East in 3 sets for round two of the sectional playoffs on Wednesday evening. Box Score: BW 25-25-25 CE 5-7-9. Top contributors to the BW win were Senior Middle Kaley Rammelsberg, Junior Middle Kassie Bowmar and Sophomore Middle Olivia Pollock with 4 kills apiece. Senior Setter Mac Podraza lit up the court with 3 kills and 7 aces for the night.

Big Walnut faced London High School on October 25, 6 p.m. at Licking Heights High School for the District Semi-Final match.
