Big Walnut High School beats Watkins Memorial High School 64-47

Game Recap: The Big Walnut boys basketball team improves to 2-0 on the year with a 64-47 win at Watkins Memorial. A great defensive effort and a huge 3rd quarter offensively allowed the Eagles to pull away in the second half. Nathan Montgomery, Kegan Hienton, and Carson Becker all scored in double figures with 13, 11, and 10 points, respectively. Jackson Podraza and Jagger Barnett both chipped in 9 points. Jordan Koebel led the defense with 4 steals. The Eagles begin OCC play in their home opener vs Canal Winchester.

Big Walnut falls to Canal Winchester High School 57-53

Game Recap: The Big Walnut boys’ basketball team lost to Canal Winchester 57-53. The Eagles were down 25-12 early in the second quarter, but managed to fight back, giving themselves several opportunities to tie or take the lead late in the game. Big Walnut was led in scoring by Kegan Hienton and Carson Becker with 14 points and 10 points, respectively. Jackson Podraza provided a great spark off the bench and kept the Eagles in the game in the first half.

Big Walnut High School beats Rutherford B Hayes High School 2063-1980

Game Recap: Big Walnut Boys beat Delaware led by Senior Jacob Bowens 376. They also had a 352 by Johnny Lemaster and Erin Hoovers 344. The Boys have had a great start to the season by starting 2-0 in Matches and 5th place in the Red and Blue Classic. This was their highest finish and best stat to a season despite losing 4 Seniors from last years Districts Qualifying Team.

Game Recap: The Big Walnut Boys fell to Central tonight but are still off to a great start. They were led by Jr. Bryan Mengel who through a 393 series with games of 196 and 197. This follows Bryan’s All Tournaments Team Selection in the Red and Blue Classic. Central was led by Devon Richardson’s in both high games and series with a high game of 257 and series of 484.

GIRLS VARSITY BOWLING

Big Walnut High School beats Rutherford B Hayes High School 2065-2018

Game Recap: The Big Walnut Girls have gotten off to their best start by defeating Delaware Hayes for the first time to start at 2-0 in match play as well as their highest finish of 5th place in the Red and Blue Classic. The Eagles were led by Autumn Leidtke’s career high in both games of 214 and team high series of 390. They were also led by Kaitlyn Morrison’s team high of 222 with a 357 series and Caitlyn Lambert’s 355 series. Big Walnut is poised to have their best season in school history led by OCC 2nd Team Finalists Kaitlyn Morrison and Anna Tanner. Major contributions are also expected from 4th year starter Autumn Leidtke and Caitlyn Lambert who finished 19th in Districts last year as well as incoming freshman Ashleigh Westervelt.

Big Walnut falls to Westerville Central High School 2019-1748

Game Recap: Although the Big Walnut Girls were defeated by Westerville Central, there were still some positives to take away. Kailtyn Morrison lead all Girls on both teams with a high game of 224 and high series of 409. The second highest girl was Centrals Reace Gonzalez with their team high game of 214 and team high series of 402. The girls are off to a 2 and 1 season heading into this weekends Baker Bash.
