Bishops’ Hogan Selected to D3football.com All-America Team
Ohio Wesleyan University junior Kyle Hogan (Centerburg) was named to the D3football.com All-America teams, it was announced by D3football.com.
Hogan, a defensive end for the Battling Bishops, was a first-team All-America selection as a special-teams player.
Hogan blocked 5 kicks this season, with 3 coming in a game against eventual North Coast Athletic Conference tri-champion Denison and 2 coming in an Ohio Wesleyan win over Oberlin, earning him D3football.com Team of the Week recognition after both performances. Hogan’s 5 blocked kicks tied for third in NCAA Division III.
The Battling Bishops finished the season with a 4-6 record. Ohio Wesleyan was 4-5 in NCAC competition, tying for fifth place in the final league standings.
Gerber Named NCAC Player of Week
Ohio Wesleyan University junior Jaret Gerber (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 17, it was announced by the NCAC.
Gerber, a guard on the Ohio Wesleyan men’s basketball team, was named Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Gerber hit a pair of 3-pointers during a 14-0 second-half run that helped the Bishops pull away for a 77-69 non-conference win over Adrian on Saturday. He scored to give Ohio Wesleyan a 41-38 lead early in the second half, then connected on a pair of 3-pointers during a later 14-0 Bishop run that opened up a 64-49 advantage with 8:51 remaining in the game. Gerber led the Bishops with 19 points and 8 assists.
