Game Recap: Big Walnut continues great season defeating New Albany 2242-2035. The Eagles were led by Jacob Bowens team high 408 series and team high game of 219. New Albany was led by Elliot Greer’s match high 454 series while rolling a 240-214. Next game vs Olentangy at Capri

Big Walnut falls to Olentangy High School 2289-2241

Game Recap: The Big Walnut Boys were led by Jacob Bowens match high series of 420 in a close loss to the Braves last night. Jacob rolled a 211-209 to lead the Eagles. Olentangy was led by Noah Johnson’s 416 Series.

Big Walnut beats Olentangy High School 2072-2039

Game Recap: The Lady Eagles pulled off a huge come from behind win behind Anna Tanner’s team high 395 series and match high 236 game. The Eagles were down 62 pins after the first game but rallied to beat Olentangy 2072-2039. With a win tonight, they would finish the season 9-2 in division and 11-2 in Conference. This will put Big Walnut in a tie for 2nd place and a spot in the OCC Roll-Off tomorrow morning. The Braves were led by Addison Starr’s Match high 441 series

Big Walnut beats New Albany High School 1974-1829

Game Recap: Big Walnut was led by Anna Tanner’s team high Series of 399 and Season high game of 225. The Lady Eagles are now 9-2 overall and 7-2 in the OCC. New Albany was led by Jada Biller’s 447 series with match high 229 game also.

Big Walnut High School Boys Varsity Swimming finishes 3rd place at Quad Meet

Meet Recap: The Big Walnut Swim and Dive Team competed on Friday, February 1st against Westerville South, Olentangy Berlin, and Worthington Christian high schools. Even though Big Walnut has worked hard the entire season and had many personal best times at this meet the team came in third place overall.

In addition it was senior night and it has been a great year for these senior swimmers and divers. The team met early for a team dinner at the high school and had a chance to recognize the hard work and dedication of all the seniors both returning and new and wish them much success with their future. The team presented each senior with a beach ball signed by the members of the team and coaches. The team awards night will take place on Monday, March 4th.

The team had many personal best times.

Big Walnut finishes 10th place at The Ohio State University State Qualifier

Meet Recap: We had another solid meet, in many ways better than the first one. This meet was way bigger than our previous meet, and we had to wait three weekends to compete again. We are really showing some balance between field, distance, and sprinting. If we keep this up we will be pretty hard to beat when we get outside and things start counting.

In the State Indoor Rankings we have Kaley Rammelsberg ranked 7th in the high jump and 17th in the triple jump; Colbi Borland is ranked 33rd in the 1600 run; Sydney Foxworthy is ranked 37th in the triple jump; Alle English is ranked 41st in the triple jump; the 4×800 relay team of Chloe McKenzie, Grace Unger, Madi Yano, and Grace Grunewald is ranked 38th; and the 4×400 relay team Hanna Pinkston, Colbi Borland, Hannah Unger, and Grace Unger is ranked 42nd. The top 40 can register to the state meet with the top 24 qualifying.

Big Walnut Coed beats Franklin Heights High School 58-22

Game Recap: The BW Wrestling team capped off its home OCC season with a dual against Franklin Heights. Four seniors were recognized in a pre-meet event. Four year lettermen Josh Halbakken and Levi Piceno joined first year wrestlers Drew Armstrong and Kenny Pemberton as they walked across the mat at home the final time with their parents.

After the ceremonies, teams began with a few JV matches, where the Eagles picked up two of three wins by strong upcoming Freshmen Christian Takatch and Michael Hurst.

The Varsity picked up its OCC win with strong performances by the young team. Josh Halbakken (170) and Levi Piceno (126) made their last time on the mat at home count, bringing home pins. Junior Christian Jodrey (120) made a statement with a fall, despite a wardrobe malfunction. Freshmen continued the pace with pins by Andrew Parker (106), Lawrence O’Malley (145), Gavin Miller (160), Austin O’Malley (182) and Wyatt Lenz (195). Freshman Grayson Segars (132) picked up a forfeit. Junior Max Lenz (220) added a Major Decision to cap the meets wins at 10, all with bonus points.

Next up for the Eagle Grapplers is the Jonathan Alder Tournament Saturday, February 9th. This tournament was rescheduled due to a weather cancellation a few weeks ago.
