MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University announces the hire of Jon Erny to the position of Sports Information Director.
“The MVNU Athletic Department looks forward to Jon beginning his duties as Sports Information Director beginning Aug. 1, 2017. Jon’s role is vital to the success of keeping our friends, family and fan base up to date on all things MVNU,” said Aaron Quinn, MVNU Athletic Director.
Jon Erny comes to Mount Vernon Nazarene University after serving two years as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Taylor University in Upland, Ind., and two years as a Graduate Student Assistant for Sports Management at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
Erny served as the primary media contact for various sports and managed game statistics at Taylor University. At Liberty University, Erny assisted in organizing and planning the Liberty University Department of Sport Management Golf Classic, as well as contributing to facilitating and grading undergraduate and senior-level athletic courses.
Prior to working at Taylor University and Liberty University, Erny worked as an intern for Athletes in Action through the X Project, gaining experience in journalism and website management. Erny also held the position of Campus Recreation Student Coordinator for over one year at Taylor University before becoming the Assistant Sports Information Director.
Erny is a 2013 graduate of Taylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management and a 2017 graduate of Liberty University with a Master of Science in Sport Management with a concentration in Sport Administration.
“I am blessed to find employment with a Christian institution. The position at MVNU is a great opportunity for me to challenge myself and learn more in sports information. I look forward to using and expanding upon what has already been set in place by the hard-working staff in the athletic department to best promote and highlight the achievements of the student-athletes,” said Erny.
