Brandon DeHass scored three touchdowns, two on the ground and one receiving, to lead New Albany past Big Walnut 29-7 on a cold Friday night in Sunbury.
DeHass scored twice in the first half, including a toss-back pass from quarterback Casey Horch he took 33 yards on third down.
New Albany was set up, thanks to a 7-yard punt to give it the ball at the Big Walnut 37.
He also broke a 50-yard run on the next possession that increased the lead to 19-0.
Horch’s first touchdown was a 16-yard pass to Sam Blaha, who made a leaping catch in the back of the end zone. Horch finished with 116 yards on 8 of 16 passing to lead New Albany (5-3, 4-1).
Horch completed a 33-yard pass to Garrison McDonald earlier in the drive to help set up the touchdown. McDonald led New Albany in receiving with 71 yards on four catches.
Zach Shirk added a 39-yard field goal and New Albany led 22-0 at the break.
DeHass scored from 12 yards out in the third quarter. He finished with 152 total yards, including 119 yards rushing to lead New Albany.
Big Walnut (2-6, 1-4) got possession at the New Albany 2-yard line after a fumbled snap on a punt in the fourth. Evan Garcia took it in on the next play for the Golden Eagles’ only score. Garcia led with 106 yards rushing on 18 attempts.
Big Walnut travels to Olentangy Orange Friday in Week 9.
